Mid Week Blues

It’s just one of those weeks. I feel like I’m in a limbo and so NOT interested in doing anything apart from spending time with my bed and a good book. I can’t even motivate myself to do my assignments - which is a really bad thing considering they’re due in a couple of days. Bloody hell.

I’ve turned into a bloody hermit. I go to uni or stay in my room working on assignments. Sheesh. I thought these were supposed to be the best years of my life. If these are considered the best years, I don’t even want to know what’s to come.

I’m going to try and start up my gym membership again. Hopefully that’ll act as a pick-me-up and get me out of this funk. BUT if I want to gym, I’m gonna have to get a perm job. YUCK. *sigh* Why can’t money just fall from heaven into my lap?

Right, enough griping for today. Time to gather up my life and, as Britney (OMG, I’m quoting HER! Something is def wrong with me!) said… “Do Somethin’!”

Cheerios!

Clubbin’ @ Birdie’s

I think the pictures speak for themselves. Good friends + Alcohol = Good time out. All the pictures are on FB, but I loaded a few up here for kicks. Have fun!

Ps. The third picture - where there’s a gap between M & me… You needa check out the chick… she’s wearing a belt.  That’s it. Looooooooose!

I knew it all along! Now I have SCIENTIFIC proof.

I got this from M this morning…

“New brain research is showing that the frontal cortex, which is needed for reasoning, is not fully developed in girls until the age of 23 and in boys until the age of 30.” (Quoted from SMH)

ROFLMAO. Poor boys. Hehehehehe.

To all the troops out there serving their respective countries, to the people to gave their lives in combat to defend their homes, their families and their country - I salute your your courage and your determination to stand for something. I may not agree with going to war, but I am left in awe of your sacrifice.

Thank you.

And God watch over you and yours. Always.

BCC Life Group Photo Contest 2008

To everyone and anyone who reads this blog:

I have a massive favor to ask. My church is holding it’s annual Life Group Photo Contest, and because of a change in the rules (last year you were allowed to vote as many times as possible), we need as many votes as possible, because you can only vote ONCE PER EMAIL ADDRESS. So, please take a couple of minutes out of your day to vote for us, because we’re poor, smelly students who really deserve/want to win the AWESOME prize!

Just click here and follow the instructions. Our group is called DARE. If you don’t receive your voting code, just look in your junk mail folder. For those of you who are worried about getting junk mail from the church - don’t worry, you addresses will not be saved.

Thanks so much for doing this guys!

Ps. If you could put the link on your blog or forward the link on to other people you know & ask them to vote, it would be greatly appreciated! :)

Of Basketball and Men.

Yesterday was our LG’s charity event - a basketball competition. Two months of planning, stressing and re-planning… EVERYTHING. At first we’d planned for 8 teams, but in the end only 6 registered, which was a bit disappointing, but oh well. What can you do. It was forcasted to rain, but thankfully, other than a slight drizzle, we had cloudy skies with the sun making a brief appearance, and a really nice wind going.

I was so sleep deprived. It had been such a big week, with next to no sleep. We were up at 7am so that we’d be at UQ by 8:30am. I almost forgot the food for the bbq, which would NOT have been such a smart thing, but since I had to make 2 runs anyway, it was all good. Things were a bit messy at first, with me and Jess having to change the entire structure of the game at the beginning of the competition, but in the end it worked our for the better. For the most part, I’m pretty sure that the players all had a lot of fun playing. There were some awesome skills on display and plenty of boy candy to drool over. I spent *MOST* of the day eyeing off this gorgeous, gorgeous dude with dreadlocks. We ended up nick-naming him “Ronaldino”.

The BBQ that we’d planned was a bit disappointing because people weren’t into buying food. There was this big group from another church who didn’t bother coming up to buy food. That sucked, considering that it was for charity (we wanna feed the homeless in August) and it was only $2 for a hotdog (with onions, lettuce, tomato & sauce) and $1.50 for drinks. In the end, at least we were able to turn a profit, with most of the money coming out of the registration fee.

There were a couple of dramas, namely with a certain idiot who has this distinct ability to get on my nerves. Almost lost it with him a couple of times, but in the end, I thought to myself, stuff it, I’m not gonna let him ruin this day.

All in all though, I was pretty impressed with everyone who helped out. It was definitely a team effort. Ming took over 400 shots, so I’m hoping after he goes thru them we’ll have some awesome pictures to show case on FB soonish. I hope to put some up here too.

Anyways, I crashed at like 8:30pm last night and ended up sleeping straight till about 5am. Solid. Best sleep ever. Went shopping with Jess & George this morning, after church. Bought myself a new winter coat (YAY!) and got $40 off it, so only ended up paying $149 (w00t w00t!). Celine, you should see it! I absolutely loooooooooove it! Love, love, love!

I’m feeling all exhausted now. Time for sleeeeeeeep. More sleeeeeeeep. So…

Good night, world!

Valentine’s Day - Linkin Park

If I was truthful, I’d say I hate Valentine’s Day. Because of all the commercialism, because every single restaurant sees fit to hike up their prices exorbitantly, because of all the teddy’s, roses and other puke-worthy items that suddenly come into focus as businesses push to garner as much money as possible from gullible idiots.

But, if I were really honest with myself, I’d say I loathe Valentine’s Day because… Because in most cases, it serves as a reminder of how alone I feel at times. Of how, while the majority of my friends are beginning to settle down with their partners, I am still partnerless. It reminds me that I have not found the one who’ll make me want to build a life with him, and it is a stark reminder that as much as I would love to have a career, deep down, I also want a family just as bad.

Alone. Five letters. One very scary word.

Valentine’s Day - Linkin Park (Lyrics from A-to-Z Lyrics)

My insides all turned to ash, so slow
And blew away as I collapsed, so cold
A black wind took them away, from sight
And held the darkness over day, that night

And the clouds above move closer
Looking so dissatisfied
But the heartless wind kept blowing, blowing
I used to be my own protection, but not now
Cause my path had lost direction, somehow
A black wind took you away, from sight
And held the darkness over day, that night

And the clouds above move closer
Looking so dissatisfied
And the ground below grew colder
As they put you down inside
But the heartless wind kept blowing, blowing

So now you’re gone, and I was wrong
I never knew what it was like, to be alone

On a Valentine’s Day, on a Valentine’s Day
On a Valentine’s Day, on a Valentine’s Day
On a Valentine’s Day, on a Valentine’s Day
(I used to be my own protection, but not now)
On a Valentine’s Day, on a Valentine’s Day
(Cause my mind has lost direction, somehow)
On a Valentine’s Day, on a Valentine’s Day
(I used to be my own protection, but not now)
On a Valentine’s Day, on a Valentine’s Day
(Cause my mind has lost direction, somehow)
